If Stefan breaks Caroline’s heart, Klaus [Joseph Morgan] could be waiting in the wings to reclaim his lost love.
Klaus left Caroline behind in Mystic Falls telling Caroline he would be her last love.
Elena Gilbert (based on Elena Gilbert from the novels) is the central character and one of the protagonists as well as the female lead of the series, for the first six seasons.
She is the biological daughter of John Gilbert and Isobel Flemming, and adopted daughter of Grayson and Miranda Gilbert.
She has a younger adoptive brother named Jeremy Gilbert, who is later revealed to be her biological cousin.
She also has an adoptive aunt named Jenna Sommers who serves as her and Jeremy's legal guardian in the first two seasons of the series.
He won’t be that messed-up kid with all the aggression he can’t understand; now he knows where it’s coming from. Alaric is still a vampire, who is struggling in a weird way.
But he’s still going to have to work hard to keep his temperaments reigned in, and to find an outlet for that physical frustration that comes along with having the werewolf gene. We never got to see him respond to being one, because he was quote-unquote evil at the hands of Esther back in Season 3. He’ll struggle with what he’s become and how he’s supposed to live with that. Is he still pissed at Stefan, or is he over all that? The beauty of Enzo is that we find him delightful, but he doesn’t need any friends.
It follows the life of Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), a teenage girl who has just lost both parents in a car accident, as she falls in love with a 162-year-old vampire named Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley).
Their relationship becomes increasingly complicated as Stefan's mysterious older brother Damon Salvatore (Ian Somerhalder) returns, with a plan to bring back their past lover Katherine Pierce, a vampire who looks exactly like Elena.
(I’m especially worried about Stefan going “dark.”) TVLINE | What’s the difference between those who found peace, versus those who were sucked into oblivion? That whole idea of finding peace, versus getting sucked into oblivion, was deliberately structured this year to be left open to interpretation.
